There are few activities that improve the body and mind as effectively as formal martial arts training. Martial arts training builds strength, balance, endurance, speed and agility.
But perhaps most importantly, martial arts training builds confidence.
For over 25 years, hundreds of children, teens and adults have benefited from martial arts instruction at the American Martial Arts Academy in Seaville, Cape May County, N.J.
We've seen the transformation dozens of times '¦ in students of all ages. Sometimes students come to us lacking self-control and discipline. Sometimes they arrive with damaged self-esteem. Often they are a bundle of boundless energy, waiting to be channeled into productivity.
Run by Sensei John T. McCray for nearly 25 years, The American Martial Arts Academy offers a wide range of benefits to students of all ages, such as concentration skills, development of balance, flexibility, strength and coordination, and learning the importance of courtesy, self control, and self-discipline.

Our philosophy involves a non-violent approach to conflict resolution-to teach the importance of courtesy and respect towards others, to cultivate confidence, self-discipline, and a strong belief in oneself, to create an atmosphere where people in our community feel safe, happy, and cared for, and to teach basic martial arts skills.
Our Martial Arts program encompasses 5 different disciplines outlined in 3 areas of study:
-Art Form: Japanese Shotokan and Americanized Tae Kwon Do karate (this is the traditional martial arts stances, blocks, history, and forms/katas)
-Sport: Kickboxing/Sparring (students are taught to move, breathe, block, punch, and kick properly)
-Personal Safety: Hapkido, Grappling, Wrestling (for conflict resolution, stress management, injury prevention, and learning to handle dangerous situations)
