Whether on Zoom or outdoors, Music Together has continued to make the world go ’round for families with children from birth to 8 years old.
Six of our Hulafrog Editors joined a Music Together Mixed-age or Rhythm Kids® class this fall and got to experience all that singing, clapping, tapping and dancing firsthand. As they found out, music is an amazing stress reliever that also supports their children’s development in many ways.
While class may have moved online or outside, our Editors enjoyed all the fun and bonding of family music-making just the same!
The best part of these classes is that my son and I finally have a small amount of time each week that just the two of us spend together. Before the pandemic, the days my older daughter went to school allowed my son & I to have bonding time. Now, with my daughter home for virtual school and having limited options for in-person classes for my son due to coronavirus concerns, these virtual music classes allowed us to connect again as mother and son.

I did not know what to expect with our 1st class being online as we have taken Music Together before, but in person. Well, from the very beginning the teachers were engaging and interacting with all the students. They made each student feel like they were there in front of them. And each class just got better. I thought that being on the laptop would be something she didn’t want to do but loves each week when it’s time for music class.

A wonderful perk I have noticed since classes have begun is that I have really started to sing with Jillian more, especially before bedtime and her naps. Instead of the TV I will turn on music for her and I to dance to! We tune in to daily live videos for the "Hello" song which she really, really enjoys.

We’ve had a few classes, some in person and, due to the weather, some were via Zoom. Overall, no matter the class location/format, the joy that I see in watching my children play and sing together, and the joy me and my husband get from watching them develop new language skills in class is truly remarkable. It’s fun for the whole family.

I have enjoyed the self-paced access to online content and physical at-home content since two of my children attend school at different hours and my toddler is at home with me while I work part-time. Those flexible components mean we can jump into an independent music sesh any time with any one of them, and I can even engage my husband if he’d like to be part of it when his schedule permits. :)
Ashley Camber, Olathe, KS, & local mom
I really enjoyed how the instructor was very animated and passionate about the curriculum she was teaching. Although we had taken classes on Zoom in the Spring, being in-person this Fall sparked even more familiarity of the songs. The class is for “Mixed Ages 0-5” but because of the current situation, Music Together allows older siblings to join in on the fun. I love being able to incorporate the music we learn in the classes into our daily routines, especially our lullaby before bedtime. We are looking forward to the next few weeks of classes!
