MORE DETAILS:

St. Paul's Preschool and PMO is a ministry of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, which provides quality Christian education that fosters learning and development. We are members of the Evangelical Lutheran Educational Association as well as the Durham/Orange Preschool Association. The preschool is in session from September through May from 9am until 12pm and serves children 9 months through 4 years old.

Our program is based on introducing and teaching Christian values through age appropriate stories, songs and prayer. Each child is treated with respect as a child of God. We provide a play-based developmentally appropriate learning environment for a positive first learning experience away from home. We encourage exploration, independence and imagination through small group gatherings, free choice playtime and individual child-focused instruction. We welcome children of any race, nationality, ethnic origin or religion.

At St. Paul's Preschool & PMO, we believe children learn through play and they learn to play together at preschool. Young children learn best through direct encounters with their world using all five senses. You will see role-playing life situations, block structures, opportunities for creative expression, sorting, counting, smelling, tasting and touching. While in the classroom, children may be noisy and active but learning is taking place.

The classrooms are arranged so that the children can work individually as well as together in small groups. The teachers clearly define activity areas in the classroom, which invite children to explore and investigate the entire classroom. Some activities and materials change throughout the year to continue to grow and learn. Weekly themes are created by the teachers allowing the children to learn about the world that surrounds them.
