#MomBoss Interview:

Tell us about your kids/ages:
I have a 6 year old daughter named Abigail, she is in first grade and loves reading. She is a very thoughtful and driven little girl with big plans for her future. She wants to be a Pastry Chef just like her dad. My son is 5 years old and named Hudson. He is in the TK program and is extremely social. He is our family comedian with ambitions to go to Video game school! Ha ha!
Why did you decide to start your own business?
My husband has been working long hours in high stress Resorts for many years. So once our daughter was getting ready to start Kindergarten we re-evaluated our lives including living in Las Vegas. We really wanted to move back to Northern California to raise our children with family. The timing finally seemed right so we sold our home, moved in with family and found our perfect spot. It was quite scary but having the ability to spend everyday with my husband and to have our children in the shop with us was so worth it.
What do you love most about your business?
I love having the ability to work with my husband every day. Watching him do what he loves and seeing the interactions we have with our customers is so much fun! I can't really describe the feeling I get when I talk to someone who has just happily finished a meal, it is seriously the best! I am so proud of what we have accomplished together.
What's the hardest thing about being a mom and a business owner?
I was a stay at home mom for the majority of the kids lives. When we decided to go on this new adventure I knew I would be giving up that luxury and it would be a significant adjustment for all of us. Balancing family life has been the hardest part, both kids are in school and we have to work every Saturday and Sunday. We miss a lot of birthday parties and weekend activities but we try and balance it with fun on Tuesdays (When we are closed) and after work.
What advice would you give a mom thinking about starting her own business?
Go for it! If you believe in yourself and your product, it is totally worth it! I went into this business carrying a lot of "mom guilt" about the time it took away from the kids. However the kids have adjusted just fine and we all value our time together even more. Life is short and you have to follow your dreams, just be smart and don't be afraid of failure.
