We are a state-licensed not-for-profit organization that provides an educational program for 163 children from four weeks to 12 years of age, including after school and a full-time summer schedule. Some of our teachers are former students and we also have third generation children in our program. We see increased educational levels, job security and higher income levels from generation to generation in our children's families.
The mission of Gladiolus Learning and Development Center is to provide educational and developmental child care for children of low income working families and to strive to provide for the social, emotional, economic, and developmental needs of those children and families.
In order to care for the community children, we need to raise $375,000 for our annual campaign each year from individuals, organizations, churches, and foundations in Lee County and elsewhere. All contributions are tax deductible.
Our child development program is nationally accredited through APPLE (Accredited Professional Preschool Learning Environment) and has been awarded the Gold Seal of Excellence by the state of Florida. Our program provides a secure and enriching environment that serves a widely diverse population of children from the African American, Caucasian, Creole, Haitian, and Hispanic nationalities of their working parents.
