Located on its original site, the John Greenleaf Whittier Birthplace is substantially the same as when the poet lived there. Best known for his poetry—in particular his poem, Snow-Bound—Whittier was also involved in the abolitionist movement and helped form the Republican Party. Many of the settings described in Whittier’s poetry may still be recognized at the Birthplace today.
