They suggest 5 ways you can seek out and celebrate diversity with your little ones at home: 

• Challenge stereotypes. Be aware of the language you use to describe specific groups. Is it accurate? Is it fair? Look for ways to answer your child's questions about differences in others.

• Choose media wisely. Look for programming that increases understanding and builds empathy. Choose media that helps you to raise an inclusive child. 

• Lend a hand. Get to know people outside your immediate circle by serving food at a homeless shelter or making regular visits to a nursing home. 

• Try something new. Visit a play, concert, or religious service that is outside your norm. When you travel, plan activities that immerse you in local culture.

• Read broadly. Look for authors like children's author Eve Bunting who regularly tackles complex issues, such as immigration, homelessness, and family dynamics in an authentic and respectful way.
