The Oceanic Free Library is a private library (a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation) and a Member/Association Library of the Monmouth County Library system. We offer an excellent selection of current Fiction, Non-Fiction, and Large Print books, DVDs, CD/Audio Books, monthly magazines, and daily newspapers. We have approximately 28,000 items in our permanent collection for Adults, Children, and Young Adults. We have WiFi, fax machine, five public computers, and copier. Relax and read in our comfortable living room. Every Tuesday is "Children's Day". We host exciting programs all year long (FREE) for children ages 10 months through 'Tweens, courtesy of MCL Children's Librarian Barbara Chung. We host a monthly Book Club for adults, a Friday Knitting Club, and space for tutors and students. We have guest speakers and presentations monthly, on a variety of topics. The Two River Bridge Club meets here on the first Tuesday of the month. KidzArt (a private art program) meets here weekly. We offer "Artist of the Month"---a rotating gallery of NJ artists, jewelers, potters (etc) for exhibit and sale. In the summer, we have Summer Reading List books for seven area schools. Since we're a private library, we host many fundraising events throughout the year: A Chili Contest, Cupcake Contest, Holiday Boutique, and Soda Bread Contest & Irish Seisiun are just some of the events. We enjoy shared services provided through MCL. Did you know you can download thousands of e-books, digital magazines, and movies with your library card...all FREE? We love out-of-town friends; our card is just $35 annually for non-Rumson residents. Please call us 732.842.2692. Our very friendly and highly-trained staff will be happy to speak with you!
We have a book club and a knitting group for adults (please call for details). We are WiFi. Tutors are welcome. We have monthly exhibits of art and jewelry---all for sale---from local artisans.
