Please visit the TPWD Enchanted Rock web page for a comprehensive overview of the park's operations. Enchanted Rock State Natural Area consists of 1643.5 acres on Big Sandy Creek, north of Fredericksburg, on the border between Gillespie and Llano Counties. Enchanted Rock is a massive pink granite exfoliation dome rising 425 feet above ground, peaking at 1825 feet above sea level, and covering 640 acres. It is one of the largest batholiths (underground rock formation uncovered by erosion) in the United States.

Visitors can enjoy primitive backpacking, camping, hiking, technical and rock climbing, picnicking, geological study, bird watching, and star gazing. Please visit the official TPWD Enchanted Rock website for detailed information about park operations, facilities available, and scheduled events.

Enchanted Rock is an extremely busy park, especially on Saturday and Sunday. Visitors are encouraged to arrive before 9:30 am for the best chance at gaining entrance to the park before it fills up to capacity. It is also encouraged to visit the park on a weekday if at all possible.
