Hulafrog Mom: Deanna Russo, Hulafrog Waterbury, CT
Kid’s Ages: 7, 6, 4, and 2
Class Format: In person & Online
THE CLASS FORMAT WE CHOSE:
My family isn’t new to Music Together. We’ve participated in classes in the past and have loved our experience. When the Pandemic started in the spring, and Music Together shifted to Zoom classes online, we signed up. Then this Fall, we chose to participate in their outdoor, in-person classes. Since our older kids are distance learning, getting outside to be “around” other kids while the weather was still good, was best option for us.
SIGNING UP & CLASS PREP:
Registration was a breeze! COVID waivers were sent along with two videos prior to our first class – one video for “the grown-ups” and the other “for the children.” Both videos were helpful and informative in preparing us for our first class. All of my questions were answered including where to go for class, when we would wear our masks, what temperature checks that would take place, and how we’d be expected t socially distance. The directions were clear and concise, and during a time with a lot of unknowns, were super helpful!
OUR FIRST CLASS:
When we arrived for our first class, we brought our own musical instruments and blanket to sit on. Our instructor was animated and passionate about the curriculum she was teaching. Although we had taken classes on Zoom in the Spring, being in-person sparked even more familiarity of the songs. All of my kids were engaged throughout the class. My older three kids were particularly comfortable with the music as they had been exposed to Music Together years ago.
WHAT WE LOVE ABOUT MUSIC TOGETHER:
Music and movement is an important part of our family’s daily routine. I am a dance educator and my husband is a musician. I love being able to incorporate the music we’ve learned in Music Together classes into our daily routines – especially our lullaby before bedtime. We are looking forward to the next few weeks of classes!
HERE’S A VIDEO OF OUR AWESOME OUTDOOR CLASS:
MY FAVORITE MOMENT DURING CLASSES:
It’s difficult to pick one moment that was my favorite as there were so many! I do think the best part was seeing the connection between the music and my children and how they incorporate it into our everyday lives.
CLASSES MADE US FEEL ’NORMAL’:
Our Music Together session instilled some normalcy into our day to day lives. The music was instantly calming and the kids totally recognized all the songs from last year.
I WOULD RECOMMEND THESE CLASSES TO A FRIEND:
Music Together classes are a great way to introduce music into your family’s lives. The teachers are very passionate about teaching which makes the experience that much better.
I LOVE HAVING MUSIC PART OF OUR DAILY LIVES:
Music is a big part of our family to begin with, so participating in Music Together allows us to use the music from the current semester on a daily basis and incorporate it into our daily lives.
