Music Together is an internationally recognized early childhood music and movement program for children from birth through age 7—and the grownups who love them. First offered to the public in 1987, it pioneered the concept of a research-based, developmentally appropriate early childhood music curriculum that strongly emphasizes and facilitates adult involvement.
Music Together classes are based on the recognition that all children are musical. All children can learn to sing in tune, keep a beat, and participate with confidence in the music of our culture, provided that their early environment supports such learning.
Bringing Harmony Home®
Singer/ Songwriter Allison Wilkins, known by her students as "Ms. Alli" has been performing and singing with children since her childhood. Granddaughter to the late James Bridges ( conductor and founder of the James Bridges School of Music in Pittsburgh), Allison adheres to the Music Together philosophy that children are naturally " musical " from birth and recalls her fondest childhood memories were centered around "music making". She studied drama and voice at the Pittsburgh Playhouse for the performing arts. Among her credits is the musical portrayal of Cinderella on WQED television. She holds a degree in psychology with an emphasis in special education from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Her experience with children is extensive from raising her own children, to leading girl scout troops and working with children with special needs.Organizations that she has been privileged to provide classes for are- the Manasota Buds, Special Olympics & the Child Abuse Council of Tampa.
Ms. Wilkins began her Music Together journey in 2000, under the tutelage of the late Jessica Pollack-founder of "Not Just Art" in Oyster Bay, New York. Ms. Wilkins wishes to honor her memory with a thankful heart for having introduced her to this enriching developmental music program for families. After apprenticing with Ms. Pollack, she successfully completed the Music Together® training program, developed by the Center for Music and Young Children in Princeton, New Jersey and continued to teach at Not Just Art. In 2003, Allison relocated to Sarasota Florida where she opened Allisongs for Tots. Classes are now offered in Sarasota, Venice, Bradenton, Hyde Park Village, and West Chase/ Citrus Park. Allison has written and published two sing along story books that come with a song download. Allison performs the songs that accompany the books.
Allison's passion for music can be summarized in her philosophy that music is "the stuff of the soul" and is to be enjoyed by children of ALL ages- Beginning at birth & quite possibly before!
