Celebrating history, art and architecture
The mission of Sacred Heart Cultural Center is to preserve and maintain the Sacred Heart Building as a National Register Historic Site and to function as a center for cultural activities.
Built by Jesuit priests in 1897 and known for three-quarters of a century as Sacred Heart Catholic Church, this magnificent facility is now the cornerstone structure of Augusta's historic district and a popular facility for a variety of social, cultural and business functions. Welcoming the visitor are fifteen intricate brickwork styles and ninety-four stained galss windows that herald the Romanesques and Byzatine archictectural design. Sacred Heart is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
