The Channel Island National Park Visitor Center features a bookstore, and hand-on dislpays for children. A small (no touch) tide pool with living fish, starfish, anemones and even lobsters. Stand next to a life-size model of an elephant seal to get an idea of how massive they are. Plus, exhibits featuring sculptures of island species of birds, reptiles and mammals. Go through the "Deep Sea" door up the interactive staircase to an overlook. Telescopes are set up for viewing the islands. Every hour on the hour visitors can enjoy the 25-minute park movie, “A Treasure in the Sea,” shown throughout the day in the auditorium (closed-caption film available upon request).

The visitor center is open to the public and FREE. On weekends and holidays at 11 am and 3 pm rangers offer fun, educational Tidepool Talks; which are great for kids.

Learn all about the Channel Islands National Park which encompasses five remarkable islands and their ocean environment, preserving and protecting a wealth of natural and cultural resources. Isolation over thousands of years has created unique animals, plants, and archaeological resources found nowhere else on Earth and helped preserve a place where visitors can experience coastal southern California as it once was.
