At Alton Jones Camp for the past 50 years we’ve been thinking globally and acting locally by engaging children in experiences with the natural environment. Children gain an understanding and appreciation of the natural world while learning about themselves and working collaboratively with others. Children learn about the environment up-close by exploring outside in a fun hands-on natural setting while gaining a global perspective on issues facing our planet.
With 2,300 acres of forests, ponds, and farmland, the W. Alton Jones Campus offers a green backyard that’s perfect for fun outdoor adventure! We have a 75-acre lake, ten miles of hiking trails, and lots of streams and ponds. Our reach extends beyond our borders to the forests, waterways, coastlines, and islands of Rhode Island, Connecticut, and beyond. We seek the best environments, built and natural, to help raise the eco-awareness of the next generation of Big Thinkers.
At Alton Jones participants:
Discover new experiences that create lasting impact
Learn about the earth through fun, hands-on activities
Grow as a person through partnerships with campers and staff
Explore the natural world in a supportive, responsible community
Going green takes on new meaning as we add the human and fun elements to exploring ecosystems and practicing conservation. At Alton Jones learning seems like a vacation as we pack a summer of outdoor adventure into each week.
